Inner Life

Inner Life

What do you say to yourself when no one else is listening? Humans are intricate beings who live at least two lives. There’s the outer persona that most people see and engage, then there’s the real persona hidden behind many masks and layers.

Most people would be terrified if someone could record all their thoughts and inner conversations for three days and then make them public. The reason is we don’t always want others to hear what we are thinking or what we are saying to ourselves about ourselves or about other people.

There is a direct correlation between your inner life and how conscious and authentic your life is. You and I know people who seem to be so real and blunt, that they hurt other people with their body language and/or their words. Others are so masked that we barely know who they really are.

Some are very conscious of their inner lives while others don’t care or don’t want to know. Then there are those who are in complete denial. Somewhere in this wide spectrum there’s a balance that we all must have to remain sane.

The next step in our exploration of conscious living is to look at our self esteem and how it affects who we really are. That’s why we need to look at the quality of our inner life. We’ve inherited some good things from our parents, we’ve also learned a lot from our life experiences. Both of these elements play an important role in our view of self or what is sometimes referred to as self worth.

Our inner life has also a lot to do with who or what lives inside of us. For some of us God plays an integral part in our inner life. We freely allow Him to guide us as we build a relationship with him. Others are driven by the darkness or the light of the past that can either haunt or push. Whatever the case may be, we can improve our inner lives and over the next few weeks I want to shed some light.

Every human being wants to be happy, quite a few pretend to be; unfortunately many are not. One of the keys to real happiness is locked inside where no one else can see or listen. Let’s explore that inner sanctum and see how we can rearrange the decor and make it more attractive first to ourselves.

For all that is secret will eventually be brought into the open. Luke 8:17
